Medical Student Education

The Ob/Gyn Department is committed to cultivating the next generation of leaders in women’s health. To that end, our department engages third- and fourth-year medical students in various opportunities to achieve this goal.

4th Year Sub-Internships and Electives

Many opportunities exist for fourth year medical students to further their education in Women’s Health including Sub-internships in: Maternal Fetal Medicine; Gynecologic Oncology; Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; and Pediatric, Adolescent, and Adult Gynecology. Additionally, there are opportunities for independent reading and research. Research plans approved by a department faculty member must be in place before the elective is started. Most electives are 4 weeks in duration.

Visiting students from other institutions in good academic standing at a LCME-accredited medical school in the United States may apply for our department’s electives as well. This includes medical and osteopathic students in their final year of training. Visiting students must first apply with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. The Ob/Gyn department cannot hold a spot until this has been completed.
