UW Ob-Gyn supports many Madison community causes in September

Special shout-out to the fantastic UW Ob-Gyn physicians, residents and staff who, in addition to their day-job excellence, have gone above and beyond to support community causes around Madison this month!

The 2017 UW Ob-Gyn Diaper Drive collected unprecedented donations this year! People donated 4,969 diapers at collection spots around Madison, up from approximately 4,250 last year. But cash donations were up to $500 this year (from $138 last year), and thanks to the power of bulk purchasing, we can turn that $500 into nearly 17,000 (you read that right: seventeen thousand) diapers!

Diapers are being distributed now to YWCA Madison, Reach Dane (formerly Dane County Headstart) and Dane County Domestic Abuse Intervention Services. Pictured: UW Ob-Gyn intern Gabby helping deliver the first round of diapers.

Kristen Sharp, MD, of the UW Ob-Gyn Division of General Ob-Gyn, shared the full range of women’s health care available from UW Ob-Gyn with guests at the 9th Annual Black Women’s Wellness Day on September 16, 2017!

On Sunday, September 24, many UW Ob-Gyn faculty, residents and staff represented the department at the Wisconsin Ovarian Cancer Alliance’s annual Whisper Walk. PGY-4s Ross Harrison and Ashley Turner staffed the medical tent, PGY-3 Antonio Romo de Vivar Chavez wore teal and walked the trail, and David Kushner, MD, of the UW Division of Gyn Onc, emceed the event. Kara Mulligan, UW Ob-Gyn Director of Clinical Operations also brought a formidable team to the walk.
