Continuing several years of upward momentum, University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) is 18th best in the nation for gynecology according to recent US News & World Report hospital rankings. This is the fourth straight top-50 ranking for UWHC gynecology.
"This type of recognition is not the reason we serve the women of Wisconsin, but it sure feels nice," said Laurel W. Rice, MD, professor and chair of the UW-Madison Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
UWHC, which was ranked the #1 hospital in Wisconsin for the fourth year in a row, also made the top 50 nationally in nine other specialties, including:
- Ear, nose, and throat
- Gastroenterology and GI surgery
- Neurology and neuroscience
UWHC was also ranked as "high-performing" in diabetes and endocrinology.
Gynecology’s nine-spot jump from last year (#27) represents the biggest improvement among nationally ranked specialties at UWHC. Several other specialties were also ranked more highly than last year, according to a UW Health summary of the rankings.
