The September 1st Department Research Retreat was a terrific success, marking a pivotal point in the research programs for ObGyn. The Department has had a long standing tradition of stellar basic science research funded at the national level. The retreat highlighted the opportunities, collaborations and other resources available not only to our traditional research faculty, but to our clinical faculty who can help bridge the gap between traditional research and clinical care.

Dr. Sangtae Kim, the Executive Director of the Morgridge Institute for Research was the keynote speaker outlining the existing collaborations and the resources available at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery. After Dr. Kim’s presentation Ob-Gyn faculty conducted in-depth discussions of current and future research on topics including teen pregnancy, obesity, infant mortality and gynecologic cancer to identify our strengths, potential collaborations and possible resources to achieve our research goals.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Vicki Johnson and Drs. Manish Patankar, Cynthie Anderson, Steve Rose, Ryan McDonald, Igor Iruretayogena and Laurel Rice for putting together such a special event.
