The information reported below is reported as pregnancy rate per embryo transfer and clinical pregnancy rate per embryo transfer. Pregnancy rate is defined as an elevated HCG level - a positive pregnancy test. Clinical pregnancy rate is defined as the observation of a fetal sac on Ultrasound exam. Not all of the patients who have a positive pregnancy test or a documented fetal sac will deliver infants. In any pregnancy conceived naturally or through IVF, there is a 20% - 25% miscarriage rate. The IVF procedure does not reduce that rate.
Our clinic submits our annual IVF treatment results to the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART.) This information is compiled and published by the Center for Disease Control. It can be viewed at www.cdc.gov. Because of the volume of data SART has to compile from the reporting centers, the statistics lag by 2-3 years. We understand your interest in more recent outcome information and try to update this information on our web site several times per year.
Many consumers use clinic success rates to help them select a program. Patient populations and treatment plans vary from clinic to clinic making comparisons less meaningful. The best estimate of the chance of conception in your circumstances will be obtained during a consultation with a Physician.
We are very proud of our pregnancy outcomes. What they do not reflect is the satisfaction that many of our patients feel as they move through fertility treatment and the percentage of patients that didn't conceive but continue to say that they would come to us for services or recommend us to others. Those are equally important factors to consider when measuring success.
Note: A comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics and treatment approaches may vary from clinic to clinic.
