Sharp receives UW Health 2026 Clinical Educator Physician Excellence Award

Congratulations to Kristen Sharp, MD, professor in the Division of Academic Specialists in Ob-Gyn! Sharp was selected to receive a 2026 UW Health Clinical Educator Physician Excellence Award. Sharp was celebrated on May 20, 2026 at the UW Health Physician Excellence Awards ceremony.

The Clinical Educator Physician Excellence Award recognizes an outstanding educator who teaches residents, medical students, interdisciplinary team members, and patients and families. Sharp is a beloved educator in the Department of Ob-Gyn, serving as medical director of the Resident Continuity Clinic (RCC). Within the RCC, she models how to build long term, trusting patient relationships and make complex decisions with clarity. Many attribute their confidence in office-based practice directly to her guidance. She has opened up training opportunities in the RCC for family medicine and internal medicine residents, helping prepare physicians who plan to practice in rural areas. Dr. Sharp also founded the Hope After Loss Clinic, where she trains family medicine and ob-gyn residents to provide sensitive, expert care for patients experiencing pregnancy loss.

In addition to this award, Sharp has received several other teaching and leadership awards, including: four John M. Anderson Awards for Patience, Integrity and Compassion; two Kimberly Miller Compassionate Colleague Awards; the Award for Excellence in Intern Education; the National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education from the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology; and multiple UW Health Patient and Family Experience Provider Champion Awards.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, Dr. Sharp!
