Our research is driven by a deep commitment to improving outcomes for individuals at risk for gynecologic cancers, with a particular emphasis on ovarian cancer prevention.
In her lab, Dr. Barroilhet investigates the earliest cellular and metabolic changes that precede cancer development, aiming to identify novel strategies for prevention and early intervention. Her work bridges clinical care and translational science, focusing on how metabolic disruptions contribute to tumor formation and how these pathways might be therapeutically targeted.
Dr. Barroilhet collaborates closely with Dr. Manish Patankar, whose expertise in tumor biology enhances the understanding of cancer microenvironments, and Dr. Maria Virumbrales-Muñoz, whose work in bioengineering supports the development of innovative models to study cancer progression. Together, their interdisciplinary efforts are advancing the science of gynecologic oncology and shaping new approaches to integrative, patient-centered care.
